📕Storytime: Caught in a surreal slow-motion moment on the convention floor, I spotted him—the Mad Hatter Cosplayed to absolute perfection, makeup and all. As I approached, my nerves turned, my mouth dry, but I bravely delivered the Cosplay 50 pitch. 🗣️💬 To my relief, words flowed, and he graciously accepted our offer for a free thirty-minute photoshoot. 📸 Every photographer’s dream, he brought it all—poses, personality, and phenomenal Cosplay. Truly a masterpiece in every frame!

💖Our extraordinary Mad Hatter 🐇has brewed a storm of creativity at ATL Comic Con and is now setting the stage at FotoNostrum, Barcelona.

I love it when we have backgrounds that perfectly accentuate the Cosplays, like this one from Gravity. When I look through images, expression trumps all. It is all in the details and not just the ones the Cosplayer has worked on for hours. A hint of a shadow strategically located can say so much more than blasting light to show every detail.

I photographed this Millie from Helluva Boss at ATL Comic Convention 2024. I will admit I had never seen Helluva Boss before but now I am quite intrigued. I recently went to Imaging USA, a portrait photography conference in Louisville and loved learning tips and tricks from some of my many photo idols. It’s amazing how one little tip can send your mind creatively spinning out of control. Creating the subject’s shadow on the background with hard light sources was this tip from John Gress.

At first I was thinking of an entire set up change for Moxxie and Mille but lights were up for shadows on the background and we chose to try it. I LOVE what it did – the prop added more spooky shadows on the background than I could ever imagine.

I photographed this Moxxie from Helluva Boss at ATL Comic Convention 2024. I had never seen Helluva Boss before but now I am quite intrigued. They work in hell and are hitman among the living. “Oh my Glob”, I photographed this Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time at ATL Comic Convention 2024. I love all the vivid colors in this Cosplay and chose to use my strip lights to not only light our galaxy background but also to sidelight the purple tulle and accentuate the texture in it. We also used a 3 ft gridded octa feathered up to light her stunning makeup and beautiful face. By doing this we also kept the texture in the tulle by not overpowering our strip lights. So much fun to play with lights 🙂

And here is Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog that I shot at ATL Comic Convention 2024! Spot on! And the first I have photographed this Disney Princess in 32 states! Go Georgia!! Can you believe this is Snow Storm from a few posts ago?

I had the honor once again to photograph the amazing MaryMaryCosplay, this time at ATL Comic Convention 2024. This Snow White Cosplay was the most intricate and detailed Cosplay that I have ever seen (and seventeen pounds!!). Not only did it impress me but also the Cosplay contest judges at MaryMaryCosplay, as she was awarded Best in Show. Congrats and well deserved! I can’t wait to see what you create next. You are not only Snow White, a mere princess, you are Queen Snow White and truly The Queen of Cosplay.

ATL Comic Convention 2024 in Georgia did it again! Thirty-two states in and my first Mr. Monopoly. This clever Cosplayer made the monopoly board a backpack – genius for comfort and portability. Did you know that Mr. Monopoly is also known by another name Milburn Pennybags? Now I need to be on the lookout for what… Clue? Candyland? I love you creative people, you make my heart sing!

I photographed this other worldly Snow Storm from X-Men at ATL Comic Convention 2024. Talk about versatility in Cosplay: she also Cosplayed a very beautiful, very princessy Tiana (photo coming soon). And also talk about talented: she also was a fantastic MC of the Cosplay contest!

I photographed this Junko Enomisha Cosplay at ATL Comic Convention 2024. The amazing CSSSCP and I first met at the Indiana Comic Convention, where I photographed her as a stunning Winged Eda from Owl House. She nailed hosting the Cosplay contest at that event. I was thrilled to photograph her multiple times here in Georgia. Right before the convention I purchased Lindsay Adler’s Optical Spot from Westcott and had a chance to experiment with it on the last day of the convention. The makeup and hairstyle in this Cosplay were brought even more to life with pink paper, a heart gobo and a harsh light source to create an interesting shadow on the backdrop.
