I photographed this striking Aelin from Throne Of Glass Cosplay at Indiana Comic Convention. I loved how everything about this Cosplay worked together seamlessly – eye gaze, background, pose, expression, along with the amazing details and texture on the Cosplay. I photographed at a low angle to give a more commanding presence to the subject.

You know it’s going to be an amazing convention when this is the first person you find walking the convention floor to photograph! CSSSCP is not only a professor Cosplayer but also was the AMAZING MC for the Cosplay contest at Indiana Comic Convention. This was one of my favorite Cosplays to photograph from the weekend. I always fear that when there are wings or super large Cosplays to photograph they won’t fit on my background or the room will not be long enough for my 70-200 lens to compress the scene and still get everything I need in the photograph. Somehow, fortunately, it always works out!

You did a double and triple take right? So did I! I photographed this incredible Hawkeye at Indiana Comic Convention.

Sometimes the combination of a character and background meld together beautifully. I photographed this stunning Ganyu from Genshin Impact at Indiana Comic Convention. We are so excited to have just added Salt Lake FanX to our convention schedule. I believe last years attendance was 125,000 – it will surely be our biggest convention of the year!

I photographed this windblown Ruby Rose from RWBY at Indiana Comic Convention. She was by far the youngest Cosplayer that I photographed there, and I was so thankful a parent was available to sign a model release. Sadly, I have to turn away a lot of amazing younger Cosplayers because of that. Teenagers bring your parent with you to conventions. Oftentimes, they enjoy it as much or more than you!

Every once in a while a Cosplay comes around that takes your breath away and it’s not necessarily the biggest, boldest one at the Con. I had that reaction to this Pearl from Steven Universe Cosplay. The emotion that I felt emitting from Pearl while I was photographing her truly had me quivering. There should be a word when photographers describe that feeling… I haven’t gotten a lot of rest lately – maybe there is… thoughts?
