Golden Ticket Update: This Golden Ticket Cosplay has been selected to be included in the FotoNostrum Cosplay 50 Exhibition in Barcelona from May 23 – July 31, 2024!

I photographed this Stilt Spirit Original Character at Wyoming Pop Culture Con in Casper, Wyoming. Congrats goes out to this amazing Cosplayer who loves doing big builds and who finished first in the Kids Cosplay Contest. When I first saw this Cosplay I have to admit it took a bit to figure out the how and once I did all I could think was about his poor back! Congrats also goes out to Rockymonkey05 as he can no longer compete at that level as he just turned 18! Happy Birthday!

I photographed this adorable Bubbles the Cat Cosplay at Indiana Comic Convention. We loved how the colors of this Cosplay popped off the background!

Now we are at our last convention of the year, Tsubasacon!! The convention is held at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center in Charleston, WV. We are located in Room 205. We will be walking throughout the convention handing out Golden Tickets to amazing Cosplayers to come in for a free 30 minute photo shoot.

I love photographing Original Characters! When I have a well-known Cosplay to edit I feel like I need to stick within some preset boundaries. With Original Character Cosplays I feel like I can let “the rules” go and create much like they do when they create these masterpieces!

I generally shy away from masked Cosplays as the most important thing to me in a portrait is the eyes of the subject. During the pandemic, however, masks were everywhere at the few conventions that I was able to photograph so we embraced them. I was floored when I saw the detail and care put into this Cosplay. I loved it even more when I found out that everything evolved from a Dino mask that one would find at the local toy store!

Our next convention is ConnectiCon XIX 2022 in Hartford, CT, July 14-17.

I love the insanity of conventions. On a busy Friday night in Phoenix I was going up the escalator as I saw this incredible Cosplay going down the opposite side! Luckily, I wear comfortable running shoes… I was off and was very thankful when this Demented Preachers Wife (and friends) agreed to come to the studio. It was so worth it!

Our next convention is ConnectiCon XIX 2022 in Hartford, CT, July 14-17.

I photographed this Original Character Cosplay at Rose City Comic Con. The Honest Cosplayer is super talented and I have had the opportunity to photograph her on many occasions in such cosplays as Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda, and Suki From Avatar. Whoever she creates is always a piece of art and so photogenic. She will be judging at Rose City Comic Con this year! I am so sad to be missing Rose City this year but will be traveling to Alaska to photograph BEARS, one of my happy places.
