Cosplay: Ursula
🐙 Stealing the show and maybe some voices! 💜
Janice embodied the enchanting sea witch Ursula at Fan X Comic Convention in 2023, and I captured every wicked detail! 📸 Who thinks King Triton, who I previously photographed and is her husband, was spellbound by this enchantress of the ocean?🧜♀️
Cosplay: Steampunk Ursula
Phoenix was truly insane! Cosplay creators had three years since the last convention and wow did they achieve perfection. I followed this stunning Cosplayer before the convention on Instagram and hoped to catch up with her at the Con. My wish was granted and I was floored by the attention to detail. Head to toe, inside and out Ursula vibes that poured from her! To create the Cosplay is one thing, but to also be able to at will bring the character to life by actions is quite another. So impressive on so many levels!
Cosplay: Ursula
I photographed the stunning Ursula Cosplay at Rose City Comic Con. I also photographed her in 2019 as The Fairy Godmother from Cinderella. I love families that Cosplay together. Last time this family did Cinderella and this time all 20’s Inspired Disney Villains. Super Cool!
Cosplay: Ursula
We continue with our amazing Disney Villain group from Rose City Comic Con 2019! Ursula was originally supposed to be played by a man for the Cosplay friend group (who all played a villain of the opposite gender), but when a friend got sick last minute, Rachel Clark flew in to save the day and fill the slot of Ursula from Walt Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”. Praised for being humorous and frightening, Rachel left out no key parts when it came to role playing this fan loved villain.
Cosplay: Disney Villains
This unbelievable group of Cosplayers epitomizes why I love working on the Cosplay 50 Project. I met and photographed Hook and later on friends at Rose City Comic Con in 2019. They were originally intended to be Genderbend Disney Villain group, however one member was sick and canceled last minute. Ursula flew to Portland immediately to fill the spot.
To say it was one of my most joyous photoshoots ever is probably an understatement. I don’t know if I have ever laughed quite as much as I did photographing them. It was absolutely amazing. They even came back the next day in plain clothes for a “normal” photograph. I have always wanted to show those in the non-Cosplay world as a comparison. In fact, that was one of my original ideas for the project. However, after attending conventions and seeing how long the transformations take and how many people come for only one day of the convention I soon realized that would be more difficult than I had hoped.
I hope to meet up with them again at a convention. Their group Cosplays are insanely good. Please check them out!
Cosplay: Vintage Ursula
I just love this Vintage Ursula Cosplay that I photographed at Emerald City Comic Con. Her catch phrase was “Souls are a girl’s best friend” – so adorable! She has sooo many stunning cosplays. I am hoping one day to photograph her Te Fiti from Moana, among others.
Cosplay: Ursula
I photographed this glamorous Ursula Cosplay from The Little Mermaid at Louisville Supercon. Louisville Supercon has since turned into GalaxyCon Louisville.
